Drilling Geo Hazards

Antony Hewitt began his career in marine geohazards assessment as a geophysical interpreter with the Geological Survey of Canada in the 1996, where he was involved in offshore surveys for investigating paleo-seismicity in the Pacific Northwest. This work led to a PhD from Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping (UNH, USA). In 2002 Tony joined Thales Geosolutions (Houston) on their AUV development team. In 2004 he joined Fugro (Houston) doing integrated geohazards assessments for deep-water subsea developments and drilling in various basins around the world. Tony then went to BP (Houston) in 2011, where he provided drilling hazards assessments for development drilling at BP’s Gulf of Mexico assets. In 2018 Tony joined BHP (Houston) where he conducted geohazards assessment for deep-water exploration drilling in Trinidad. Tony was also the geohazards lead for BHP’s Calypso development (Trinidad & Tobago), and new-field entry into Orphan Basin (Canada).
